Who we are

Riddle & Coghill Interiors designs, supplies and installs kitchens, bedrooms and home office furniture from showrooms at 195 Lindsay Road, Leith, Edinburgh EH6 6ND and 86 Dalry Road, Haymarket, Edinburgh EH11 2AX.

Riddle & Coghill Interiors is the trading name of Pentland Kitchens Ltd, a company registered in Scotland under number SC307579, whose registered office is 195 Lindsay Road, Edinburgh EH6 6ND. For the purposes of data protection law Pentland Kitchens Ltd is the “data controller” for the personal information described in this policy.

What information we collect

We only ask for what we need in order to answer you and to design and deliver your project.

• Details you give us directly — your name, email address, telephone number, and anything you choose to tell us in an enquiry, such as the type of project, its location, your timescale and your budget.
• Project information — measurements, plans, photographs of your home, appliance and material choices, and delivery and installation addresses.
• Correspondence — records of emails, calls, showroom visits and meetings, so that whoever picks up your project knows where things stand.
• Technical information — this site sets no cookies of its own, but where you consent to it, Google Tag Manager loads Google Analytics and Meta Pixel, which do. See the Cookies section below.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

• To respond to your enquiry — because you have asked us to, and because we have a legitimate interest in replying to people who contact us.
• To design, quote for and deliver your project — because it is necessary to perform our contract with you, or to take steps at your request before entering into one.
• To provide aftercare and honour guarantees — to perform our contract with you, and because we have a legitimate interest in supporting the work we have installed.
• To meet our legal and accounting obligations — because the law requires it.
• To send marketing — only where you have asked us to, and you can ask us to stop at any time.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing.

We do share it where it is needed to deliver your project — for example with the manufacturers who make your furniture to order, and with the delivery and installation teams working on your job. We also use service providers who handle information on our behalf, and who may only act on our instructions: our website host, our accountants, and Web3Forms, which delivers the enquiries you submit through this site's forms to us by email. Where you consent to analytics cookies, Google (Tag Manager and Analytics) and Meta (Pixel) also process technical information about your visit — see the Cookies section below. We can tell you who else these are on request.

We may also disclose information where we are required to by law, or to establish or defend a legal claim.

Where your information is held

Your information is held on systems within the UK and the European Economic Area. Some of the manufacturers who make your furniture are based in Germany, so order details are shared with them in the course of delivering your project. Where information is transferred outside the UK we rely on the UK adequacy regulations or on standard contractual clauses, so it keeps the same protection it has here. Google and Meta, if you allow analytics and marketing cookies, process the technical information those cookies collect on their own systems, which can be outside the UK and EEA, including in the United States.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries that do not become projects for two years, in case you come back to us. Records relating to a completed installation are kept for six years from completion, so that we can support the guarantee and answer questions years later, and financial records are kept for at least six years as tax law requires. When a retention period ends we delete the information or anonymise it.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

• ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
• ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate or incomplete;
• ask us to delete information we no longer need;
• ask us to restrict or object to how we use it, including objecting to direct marketing at any time;
• ask us to transfer certain information to you or another provider; and
• withdraw consent, where we relied on your consent to use it.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you came to us first so we can put it right.

Keeping your information safe

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access, and we limit access to those who need it to do their job. That includes access controls on our systems, encrypted connections to this website, and secure disposal of paper records.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own. It does load typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser contacts Google to fetch them when a page loads. Beyond that, two things we use can set cookies, and both stay switched off until you choose to allow them — either via the banner shown on your first visit, or the “Cookie settings” link in the footer at any time:

• Google Maps, which shows the showroom map on our Contact page and sets its own cookies from google.com once loaded.
• Analytics & marketing — loaded through Google Tag Manager, which we use to measure how the site is used. This records things like which pages you visit, how you reached the site, and general device and location information — not your name or contact details, unless you separately submit those through one of our forms. Once you allow it, these cookies are set:
  • _ga and _ga_VG78QLSELK — Google Analytics. Tell one visitor and visit apart from another so we can count visits and see which pages are used. Kept for up to 2 years.
  • _fbp — Meta Pixel. Identifies your browser so Meta can measure visits to the site and, if we run adverts, show them to relevant people and measure whether they worked. Kept for 90 days.

You can accept or decline each of these independently, and you can still use every part of the site if you decline both. Change your choice at any time from the “Cookie settings” link in the footer — choosing to decline stops any further tracking, and you can also delete the cookies above from your browser settings.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page and revise the date at the top of it.
