Our story

A six-month trial —
still going nearly twenty years later…

It started in 2006, when Gus Riddle left a 25-year career in the timber and building supply industry to build something of his own. Two years later, Ian Coghill joined him. The pair had first met in the early ’90s and became firm friends over the years. A chance meeting at a trade fair in Birmingham in 2008 led to an agreement to give working together a shot.

With Gus’s experience in the trade and Ian’s specialist knowledge of kitchens and interiors, they decided on a six-month trial. It seems to have lasted rather longer.

Before becoming partners, Gus and his team had fitted kitchens and bedrooms in 334 apartments at Britannia Quay — the same building that became home to the first Riddle & Coghill Interiors showroom. It opened in 2008, just days after the UK recession was announced. Not exactly perfect timing, but nearly 20 years later, we’re still going strong!

To date, the principles haven’t changed: great kitchens come from good design, quality products and people who care about getting the job right.
